Zola gambled to 4/7 in sack race betting
Gianfranco Zola has been heavily backed to be the next top flight manager to lose his job today and is now Sky Bet's 4/7 favourite in the
Premier League sack race betting.
It was reported over the weekend that Zola has threatened to quit if Massimo Cellino's bid to take over the club is successful. The Italian
is one of several parties including former Birmingham City owners David Gold and David Sullivan thought to be involved in bidding for the
Hammers.
Sky Bet's football betting spokesman Dale Tempest said: "Zola has done a fantastic job at West Ham so it was a surprise to see money for him to lose his job, but then with new owners on the horizon, anything could happen."
West Ham's 0-0 draw at Aston Villa on Sunday lifted them out of the bottom three and Sky Bet eased their relegation odds to 3/1 (from 11/4).
