The Full Story Behind Entain
The Entain Story
Entain's story begins in 2004 when it was known under a different name: Gaming VC Holdings. It was set up to buy an online casino called CasinoClub, which was popular in German-speaking countries. The company listed on London's AIM market that same year.
In 2010 it rebranded as GVC Holdings, then spent the next decade growing through acquisitions in online betting and gaming. In December 2020, it rebranded again as Entain plc. If you see GVC on older bank statements or documents, it's the same company — just the old name.
Brands Entain Owns in the UK
In the United Kingdom, Entain owns five major gambling brands: Foxy Bingo, Gala Bingo, Ladbrokes, Coral and PartyCasino. Together they cover Entain bingo sites, Entain casinos and Entain casino sites in the UK. All five are operated by LC International Limited under UKGC licence 54743. Whether you are using them for bingo, casino games or sports betting, the branding changes — but the operator underneath remains the same. They share the same platform, the same bingo networks and largely the same slot and casino game libraries from providers like Playtech and Eyecon.
| Brand | Bingo | Slots | Casino | Betting | Known For |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Foxy Bingo | Yes | Yes | Yes | No | The fox mascot, TV advertising, fun tone |
| Gala Bingo | Yes | Yes | Yes | No | High street bingo hall heritage |

| Coral | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Betting heritage since 1926 |
| PartyCasino | No | Yes | Yes | No | Casino games, table games and poker |
Entain also owns Gala Casino, Gala Spins and Foxy Games — extensions of the Gala and Foxy families that sit under the same LC International licence. You can see the full network on the Foxy Bingo sister sites page.
Foxy, Gala, Ladbrokes and Coral Under One Roof
Entain was built through acquisitions. Gaming VC started small — buying a single German casino site — but GVC spent the next decade doing deals that steadily grew the business.
The step-change came in 2016 when GVC bought bwin.party for £1.1 billion. That deal brought in bwin (one of Europe's biggest sportsbooks), partypoker and PartyCasino, along with significantly larger technology and infrastructure. GVC went from mid-sized online operator to a serious multi-brand group almost overnight.
Then came the big one. In 2018, GVC acquired the Ladbrokes Coral Group for £4 billion. Ladbrokes had been running betting shops since 1886. Coral since 1926. Foxy Bingo launched online in 2005, and Gala Bingo's online arm came through the earlier Gala Coral merger. The deal gave GVC a huge UK retail presence and some of the most recognised gambling brands in British history.
| Year | What Happened |
|---|---|
| 2004 | Set up as Gaming VC Holdings; listed on AIM; buys CasinoClub |
| 2010 | Renames to GVC Holdings |
| 2016 | Buys bwin.party for £1.1 billion — picks up bwin, partypoker and PartyCasino |
| 2018 | Buys Ladbrokes Coral for £4 billion — picks up Foxy Bingo, Gala Bingo, Ladbrokes and Coral |
| 2019 | Consolidates UK online brands under LC International Limited (UKGC licence 54743) |
| 2020 | Rebrands to Entain plc |
| 2022 | Fined £17 million by the UKGC |
| 2023 | Pays £585 million to HMRC over former Turkish operations |
After the 2018 deal, GVC consolidated all UK online operations under LC International Limited — a company whose name literally stands for Ladbrokes Coral. That is why every one of these Entain brands now shares the same UKGC licence, the same platform and the same responsible gambling infrastructure. The full list of Ladbrokes sister sites shows just how wide the network reaches.
Since rebranding, Entain has continued to expand: building BetMGM in the US (a 50/50 joint venture with MGM Resorts), and acquiring local operators in markets including Portugal, the Baltics and the Netherlands. The group now runs 25+ brands globally, though UK players can only access the five that sit under LC International.
The CEOs Behind Entain
Stella David has been CEO of Entain since April 2025, with Pierre Bouchut as Chair. According to Entain's board announcement, David's appointment followed a formal search process — though in practice, she had already stepped in as interim CEO twice before, making her the obvious choice. Her predecessor, Gavin Isaacs, lasted five months before leaving by mutual agreement. That makes three CEOs in four years, which tells its own story about the pressures on this company.
If you are wondering who the CEO of Ladbrokes is, or Coral, or Foxy Bingo — the answer is the same person: Stella David, because they are all Entain brands running under the same parent company.
Entain's Regulatory Record at a Glance
Entain has been fined £22.9 million by the UK Gambling Commission across two separate enforcement actions, both for anti-money laundering and social responsibility failures — in plain terms, failing to check where money was coming from and to step in when customers showed signs of problem gambling.
According to the UK Gambling Commission, the first fine of £5.9 million was issued in July 2019 for failures between 2014 and 2017 under the Ladbrokes Coral Group. According to a second Gambling Commission enforcement, a further £17 million followed in August 2022 — £14 million against LC International and £3 million against Ladbrokes Betting & Gaming. The Commission explicitly warned that licence removal was a real possibility.
Separately, Entain paid £585 million to HMRC in December 2023 under a Deferred Prosecution Agreement relating to its former Turkish operations. And in December 2024, AUSTRAC — Australia's financial intelligence agency — took legal action against Entain's Australian arm for further AML failings.

Glitzy Bingo and Entain Partnership
Glitzy Bingo has held an Entain Partners account since 2019 and has dealt with the company through two rebrandings and two UKGC fines. The compliance changes since the 2022 enforcement are stricter verification, earlier affordability checks, and the cross-brand self-exclusion gaps that once let blocked customers hop between Entain bingo sites appear to have been significantly tightened. Whether that culture sticks across an organisation with 29,000 employees and operations on four continents is the open question. The track record demands scepticism. The direction of travel, at least in the UK, looks better than it did.
Entain: FAQs
- Who owns Foxy Bingo, Gala Bingo, Ladbrokes and Coral?
- All four are owned by Entain plc, a FTSE 100 gambling company headquartered in the Isle of Man. Entain acquired Ladbrokes Coral Group for £4 billion in 2018, bringing Foxy Bingo, Gala Bingo, Ladbrokes and Coral under one roof. In the UK, all four brands operate through a single subsidiary called LC International Limited, which holds UKGC licence 54743. This means they share the same platform, the same bingo networks and the same responsible gambling controls.
- What are all the Entain bingo sites?
- Entain operates four bingo sites in the United Kingdom: Foxy Bingo, Gala Bingo, Ladbrokes Bingo and Coral Bingo. All four share many of the same bingo rooms — games like Deal or No Deal Bingo and Fishin' Frenzy Bingo appear across the network. The differences come down to branding and promotions. Foxy leads with its fox mascot and playful tone, Gala trades on bingo hall nostalgia, while Ladbrokes and Coral lean on their betting heritage. Each has its own registration and welcome offer.
- What is LC International Limited?
- LC International Limited is the legal entity that operates all of Entain's UK-facing gambling brands. It holds UKGC licence 54743 and is responsible for account registration, identity verification, deposits and withdrawals across Foxy Bingo, Gala Bingo, Ladbrokes, Coral and PartyCasino. If you see LC International on a bank statement, that is your transaction with one of these brands — not a separate charge.
- Why does my bank statement show LC International?
- LC International Limited processes all payments for Entain's UK brands. If you have deposited at or withdrawn from Foxy Bingo, Gala Bingo, Gala Casino, Ladbrokes, Coral or PartyCasino, the transaction will appear as LC International on your statement. This is the operating company behind those brands, not an additional charge. You can verify this on the UKGC public register under account number 54743.
- Is Foxy Bingo the same as Gala Bingo?
- They are owned by the same company and run on the same platform, but they are separate sites with separate accounts. The bingo rooms are largely shared — the same scheduled games and jackpots appear on both — but each brand has its own welcome offers, its own promotions calendar and its own look. Think of it like supermarket brands under the same parent: different shops, different experience, identical supply chain. If you like one Entain bingo site, the others will feel familiar. See the full list of Gala Bingo sister sites for more.
- Can I use one account across all Entain sites?
- No. Each Entain brand requires its own registration and has its own wallet. You cannot log into Gala Bingo with your Foxy Bingo credentials, and balances do not transfer between brands. However, identity verification is shared across the LC International group — so once you have been verified at one site, the process at another should be significantly quicker. Each brand also runs its own welcome offer independently.
- Can UK players use bwin, BetMGM or other Entain brands?
- No. International Entain brands including bwin, Sportingbet and the global Party sites are geo-blocked for players in the United Kingdom. UK players can only access the brands that run under LC International Limited: Foxy Bingo, Gala Bingo, Ladbrokes, Coral and PartyCasino. Entain's US brand, BetMGM — a 50/50 joint venture with MGM Resorts — is also unavailable to UK players.
- How can I tell if an Entain site is genuine?
- Check three things before depositing at any site claiming to be an Entain brand. First, the footer should name LC International Limited as the operator. Second, the licence number should be 54743 — you can verify this yourself on the UKGC public register. Third, confirm you are on the brand's official domain — the one linked from Entain's own site or the UKGC register listing. If anything does not match, do not enter personal details.
- What happens if I self-exclude from one Entain site?
- Because all five UK brands are operated by LC International Limited, self-exclusion is intended to apply across the group — Foxy Bingo, Gala Bingo, Ladbrokes, Coral and PartyCasino. For the most reliable blanket block, use GAMSTOP, the free national self-exclusion scheme covering all UKGC-licensed sites for a minimum of six months. If you can still access another Entain brand after self-excluding, stop immediately, take screenshots and contact support in writing so you have a record.
- What responsible gambling tools do Entain sites offer?
- Every LC International site provides deposit limits, loss limits, session time reminders, cooling-off periods and reality checks during play. These can be set at any time through your account settings. For complete self-exclusion from all UKGC-licensed sites, GAMSTOP offers a free service with a minimum six-month block. You can also close your account permanently by contacting the brand's customer support team directly.
- Is Entain the same as GVC Holdings?
- Yes. GVC Holdings rebranded to Entain plc in December 2020. Before that, the company was known as Gaming VC Holdings from its founding in 2004 until 2010. All three names refer to the same company. If you see GVC Holdings on a bank statement, regulatory filing or old news article, that is Entain under its previous name. The UK brands and the UKGC licence (54743) were unaffected by the rebrand.
- What is the connection between Entain and Ivy Comptech?
- Ivy Comptech was Entain's technology and engineering division based in India. It rebranded to Entain India in 2025. The division builds and maintains the platform that powers Entain's gambling brands — it is not a bingo site or casino that players can sign up to. If you see Ivy Comptech referenced in connection with Entain, that is the technical infrastructure behind the scenes, not a consumer-facing brand.
