Dauble Created by Glitzy Bingo — The Free Daily Bingo Word Game
✦ ✦ ✦
Half the country starts the day with a word puzzle now. So we made one of our own — only ours is Glitzy bingo through and through, and we've called it Dauble.
The name's a daft little nod to the bingo dabber, if you hadn't spotted it — a daub, tucked inside a word game you'll know the shape of. We built it ourselves, and you'll only find it here at Glitzy Bingo. Our own take, and ours alone. You get a hidden word each day and six goes to crack it — but the words are all off the bingo book. GOLDEN. JACKPOT. DABBER. HOUSE. Know your way round a bingo hall and you've a head start already.
So How do you play it?
There's one word a day, and it's the same word for the whole country — so you and your sister two hundred miles apart are both after the same one. You get six guesses, and each has to be a real word off the Dauble list — all bingo words: calls, lingo, room names, the lot.
This is where we part company with that other game, though. It sticks to five letters, always. Ours doesn't — the day's word might be four letters, might be eight. Truth be told we had no choice: there aren't enough five-letter bingo words to fill a whole year, and we needed a year of them. So we threw the rule out and let the words be whatever length they are. We just tell you how long the day's one is before you start.
After each go, the tiles change colour to nudge you along. Pink means right letter, right spot — bang on. Amber means the letter's in the word, but you've put it in the wrong place. A dark tile means it's not in there at all, so cross it off. Work in from there, and you'll get it.
There's a little riddle each day, too, to point you at the word without giving it away. A cryptic clue, the sort of thing you'd get on a Sunday crossword — have a mull over it before you start, or ignore it and go in blind if you fancy the challenge. Something like "call the shots, and this is what you shout" might land you on HOUSE. The answer's revealed at the end, so you'll always find out how close you were.
Hints, streaks and the leaderboard
Stuck? You can reveal a letter as a hint — but it'll cost you a few points off your score, so it's a trade-off. Save them for when you're really stuck. The quicker you crack it and the fewer goes you take, the higher you score.
“The difference is ours is Glitzy bingo through and through.”
Win two days on the bounce and you've a streak going. Keep it up and watch it climb — miss a day and you're back to square one, so no skiving. There's a weekly leaderboard that runs Monday to Sunday, and a Today's Top Scores board for your daily bragging rights.
Now, there's nothing to win — no cash, no prizes, none of that. It's a bit of fun for your lunch break or while you're waiting on the next bingo game to start, and that's all it's meant to be. What you can win is a spot at the top of the leaderboard, and the bragging rights that come with it. Top the week and you can lord it over the rest of us till Monday. That's the prize. Priceless, really.
You'll want a free account to keep all that safe — your streak, your best run, your wins — and it means you can play on your phone in the morning and your tablet at night, same account, same score. One real go a day, though. No sneaking a second.
Sign up, and if you fancy, we'll pop the day's clue in your inbox each morning to get you started. Then it's just you, six goes, and a bingo word waiting to be found. Eyes down.
