Flutter Entertainment has confirmed on 8 July 2025 that a recent data breach impacted a number of UK customers across its Paddy Power and Betfair platforms. While the breach has now been fully contained, some customer details were accessed by unauthorised parties.

According to Flutter’s official statement, the following information may have been involved:

  • Username
  • Email address
  • First line of home address
  • Recent account activity
  • Device identifiers and IP address

A spokesperson for Flutter commented:

“Immediately upon becoming aware of this incident, we informed relevant regulators and authorities and initiated a full investigation, supported by external IT security experts, to understand what happened and how we can better protect our networks and customers. The unauthorised access has been removed and the incident contained.”

Although not legally required to inform players, Paddy Power and Betfair have contacted affected customers directly via email. The breach has also been reported to the UK Gambling Commission and the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Flutter says it acted quickly to contain the breach, remove unauthorised access, and bring in independent cybersecurity experts to strengthen their systems. All affected customers are being contacted directly by email.

Reported by the Irish Independent, this breach comes just weeks after the Irish Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) began legal proceedings against several businesses in the betting sector, including Flutter, as part of a wider criminal investigation into potential competition law breaches. It also follows another high-profile incident - a cyberattack on Marks & Spencer in April that forced them to shut down online orders over the Easter weekend.

Flutter says it has taken swift action to investigate the breach and has brought in external cybersecurity experts to prevent any further issues.

Promotions are a great perk at bingo and casino sites, giving players extra value through welcome offers, free spins, or bonus tickets. But they always come with small print — things like wagering requirements, withdrawal limits, or game restrictions.

Offers can also expire or change without notice, so always check the terms directly on the brand’s website before you sign up. That way you’ll know exactly what you’re getting and can make the most of the promotion safely.
